Brewers beat Rams to snap another win streak


UTICA — Jay Gonzalez wrapped a two-run triple as part of a four-run fifth inning as the Utica Brewers beat the Watertown Rams, 11-4, to snap Watertown’s four-game Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League winning streak Friday at Donovan Stadium.

Kellen Hackett struck out six and gave up three runs in five innings of relief to pick up the win for Utica (11-15), which also ended a seven-game Watertown win streak with a 4-3 win on July 3 in Utica.

Dominic Lopez singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the PGCBL West Division-leading Rams (18-14), who lead Elmira by two games and Utica by four games.

Watertown continues its road trip with a 7:05 game tonight against the Albany Dutchmen before finishing up on Sunday at Glens Falls.
