Man charged with endangering child, unlawful imprisonment

Watertown police charged two men following a domestic dispute about 8 p.m. Saturday on Emerson Street.

Police said Michael S. Ebdon, 50, of 531 Emerson St., locked Melissa Pierce and a 5-month-old girl in a bedroom by sitting in a lounge chair he placed against the door. During the dispute, Mr. Ebdon also allegedly grabbed Ms. Pierce’s arm while she held the infant, and attempted to pull the child away from Ms. Pierce.

Police said that they found marijuana in Mr. Ebdon’s pocket when they were charging him, and that he refused to submit to being handcuffed.

Mr. Ebdon, charged at 8:23 p.m. with second-degree harassment, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.

Police said that during the incident, James L. Pierce, 18, of 537 Olive St., attempted to fight with Mr. Ebdon. Charged with disorderly conduct, Mr. Pierce was released on $100 police bail pending an appearance in City Court.
