Rams beat Golden Eagles to complete road trip

GLENS FALLS — Joe Moroney doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Matt Hennie picked up the save as the Watertown Rams held off the Glens Falls Golden Eagles for a 4-3 win in a battle between Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League division leaders on Sunday at East Field.

Justin Protacio and Dale Irving generated a pair of hits, and reliever Logan Grant pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win for Watertown (19-15), which won five of seven games on its annual Jefferson County Fair road trip. The Rams lead Elmira (15-15) in the PGCBL West Division by two games.

Josh Anderson slapped an RBI single for Glens Falls (19-12), which leads second-place Albany (18-12) by a half game in the PGCBL East.

The Golden Eagles trailed 4-2 in the ninth with the bases loaded and one out, but could only push across a run before Hennie retired the final two batters.

Watertown returns home with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday against the Adirondack Trail Blazers.
