FC Freeze U16 Boys fall to Upstate United


CANTON - Scoring four unanswered second half goals, Upstate United (8-1) pulled away from a 3-2 halftime lead to post a 7-2 win over FC Freeze (4-4-1) in Northern New York Soccer League U16 Boy’s action on Monday night at St. Lawrence University.

For the locals, Potsdam’s Dominic Frascatore scored one goal and recorded one assist while Ogdensburg’s Peyton Lalone also found the back of the net with Lisbon’s Adam Kelley passing out one assist. Riley Doyle (Colton-Pierrepont) and David Caamano (Potsdam)combined to make 10 saves in the FC Freeze crease.

The locals will close out their season on Monday hosting the Lowville Soccer Club at SLU with a 6 p.m. start.


Last Friday, itwas the battle of the league’s first and second place teams as the FC Freeze U12 Girls hoped to avenge their only loss of the season against first place Indian River United Soccer Club (IRUSC)but wound up settling for a 2-2 tie.

Within the first minute of play IRUSC scored on a direct kick over Clara Maine’s (Parishville) outstretched hands. This fired up FC Freeze’s offense into action. Within a few minutes FC Freeze struck back. Delaney Hayes (Canton) blasted a direct kick in the top left corner of the net. Soon after the first goal, Anourine Pullano (Parishville) passed the ball in front of the net and Gabbie Jones (Potsdam) fired another shot into the top left corner of the net. Midway through the first half IRUSC scored again. Leading FC Freeze with shots on goal were Rylee Dennis (Maitland, Ontario) and Delaney Hayes with three each.

Maine was in net the first half and made six saves. In the second half, Brooke Hayes (Parishville) made three saves. Both teams finished with 11 shot on goal.

The FC Freeze U12 Girls will be back in action on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the SLU campus against LCU.
