North Country Men’s Summer Soccer races tighten

With three regular season dates pending and just a few make-ups remaining, the North Country Men’s Summer Soccer Association races are tight in Division I and Division II. CJ’s-Chips Place maintain its hold on Division I with a 7-0 shutout over CKON-Signs and Stitches at 9-1. Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place used a 8-2 win over St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union to remain in second at 7-4.

Massena Savings and Loan stayed atop Division II at 6-1-3 after a 2-1 decision over Ogdensburg AMP-Jreck’s. Frary Funeral Home is second at 6-3-2 after a 4-0 win over Hoot Owl/North Country Savings Bank.

Frary’s 4, Hoot Owl-NCSB 0: Dylan Reed produced three goals and Matt Gladle added a solo goal lifting Frary’s. Ricky Stevenson, Nathan Beaulieu, and Kyle Rhodes all assisted with Beaulieu making eight saves in net.

Pepsi-The Place 8, SL Credit Union-Place II 2: Brek Murray and Mike O’Neil each logged two goals and Aaron Charlton produced a goal and three assist for Ogdensburg Pepsi-The Place. Jordon Decker and Grant Prudhomme each scored once. Andrew Guimond, TJ Hannan, Conor Hannan logged assists as Jake Sias made five saves.

Shaun Murray and Donnie Wilhelm each scored for SL Credit Union-The Place.

CJ’s-Chip’s Place 7, CKON-Signs and Stitches 0: Tony Betrus generated a hattrick and assist including a penalty kick goal in the first half for CJ’s-Chips Place. Tom Hobbs and Shawn Lillie each scored once while Grant Sharlow chipped in an assist. CJ’s-Chips Place was awarded two own goals. Ben Steinberg had seven saves in the shutout.

Massena S&L 2, Ogdensburg AMP-Jrecks 1: Brandon Albert scored from David Phillips with 15 seconds left in regulation for the dramatic gamewinning goal as Alan Davis made 12 saves for Massena’s Savings and Loan. Anthony Cortese scored from Robert Cameron to account for the other goal in the winning effort.
