Boldt, Parker combine to lead second Norwood Beach Duathlon race

NORWOOD - Nearly 80 die-hards turned out to brave hot and humid conditions for the second race in the 2013 Norwood Beach Duathlon Series on Tuesday.

With temperatures still hovering above 90 degrees, the tandem of Erik Boldt and Bryan Parker combined to post the fastest time of the race after finishing in 37.09 to lead the team division. Luke Dunkelburg led the men’s division with his time of 43.25 while Steph Rodgers paced the women’s division with her time of 45.54.

Rounding out the top five in the men’s division which featured 18 competitors were; Ogdensburg’s Bryan Seymour (45.12), Brian Newtown (45.13), Lisbon’s Will Glass (47.18) and Mark Josephs (48.29). Following Rodgers in the field of 10 women were Ogdensburg’s Kendra Moran (30), Lauren Olson (51.14), Amy Hollister (51.45) and Emma Duffany (53.28).

The race drew a total of 22 teams. The duo of Ethan Kelly and Ethan Vinson placed second in 42.10 followed by Cullen Haskins and Matt Booz in 42.15, Shawn Spriggs and Bob Rodgers in 42.20, Kristie Betrus and John Stokes in 43.17.

The others two races in the series are slated for July 30 and August 6. Each race consists of an eight-mile bike ride sandwiched between two 1.5-milre runs.
