First place Paddles

DeKalb Junction artist John Miller III has once again provided the first-place trophies for the Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Department’s Sandbar Classic Fishing Derby – unique hand-painted paddles.

Parks & Recreation Department employee Alex Farrell is pictured holding two of the paddles that will be given to the anglers who catch the largest bass, walleye, northern pike and perch on Sunday. Registration will be held at the Dobisky Visitors’ Center and at Hosmer’s Marina. The cost is $5 per species but anglers have to register for at least two species. A youth division will also be held for bass and perch. Sponsors for the derby are Algonquin Power, Cape Air and Hosmer’s Marina. The first 90 entrants will receive a free T-shirt courtesty of Algonquin Power’s Heroes Program. (Submitted Photo)
