Gunnar Leif Larsen, 94, of 613 Washington St., Watertown, passed July 18, 2013 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Born on January 5, 1919 in Sulitjelma, Norway, son of Ludvik and Sofie Larsen, where he also graduated from high school in 1937. He received his Bachelors Degree in Carpentry and Cabinet making in Bergen, Norway.
He moved to the US in 1948 and became a US Citizen. He lived in the Chicago area where he worked for the Rhineheimer Cabinet Co. for seven years.
In 1955 he returned to Norway where he met and married Aud Olsen of Fauske, Norway on June 15, 1957. In September of 1957 the couple returned to America where they resided in Watertown.
Upon returning home he worked in Massena on the Eisenhauer Lock System with the Morrison Knudsen Corp. for three years.
Mr. Larsen was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He worked for Wager Bros Construction, Farquar Construction and was self employed thru the Carpenters Union in Watertown for many years.
Among his survivors are his wife of 56 years, Aud E. Larsen; a daughter, Ingrid M. Exford; a son; David A. Larsen; a daughter in law, Laurie A. Larsen, all of Watertown; four grandchildren, Erik L. Larsen, Matthew D. Larsen, Morgan M. Exford, Madisyn L. Exford; several nieces and nephews all residing in Norway.
A brother, Sigfred Larsen and a sister, Mary Sivertsen, both of Norway passed before him.
Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the funeral home with an 11 a.m. funeral service at the Emmanuel Congregational Church, Watertown. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery.
