Jefferson County to change contingency nursing services contract at jail

Jefferson County soon may swap contracts for contingency nursing services at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

A resolution endorsed by the Board of Legislators’ General Services Committee would authorize the county to enter into an agreement with Medical Staffing Network Healthcare LLC, a Boca Raton, Fla.-based health services provider.

Previously, the county had contracted with Sibley Nursing, a Rochester firm that provides private duty nurses for home health care.

Sibley is discontinuing its temporary staffing services, though it will continue to provide private duty nurses for home health care, spokeswoman Helen E. McDermott said.

Medical Staffing Network, which has a Rochester location, will provide nursing services at the county jail on an “as-needed basis” from August through Dec. 31 at a rate of $57 per hour per registered nurse.

The resolution still needs approval from the full board.
