Jefferson Community College is receiving $50,000 to offer more low-income students a chance to go to college.
According to a press release, the community college is one of nearly 40 schools and organizations throughout the state to receive a piece of the $2.75 million Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo allotted for the College Access Challenge Grant program.
The funding being awarded today to these community-based and not-for-profit organizations will help put nearly 25,000 low-income students on a path to valuable college and professional experiences, Mr. Cuomo said in the release.
The money was distributed to communities with a sizable at-risk population to focus on tutoring assistance, retention and re-enrollment.
