Rams outlast Hawkeyes to run win streak to five

The Watertown Rams used a five-run third inning as they held off the Cooperstown Hawkeyes, 6-4, in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Saturday at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Former Immaculate Heart Central product Anthony Magovney pitched five innings and gave up only two runs to pick up the win, while Daniel Reitzler posted a scoreless ninth to record his first save of the season for Watertown (23-15).

Bryce Greager and Brad Rush both finished 2-for-4 and with an RBI for the Rams.

Nate Lotze finished 4-for-5 to pace Cooperstown (13-21). Brendan O’Reilly was the only other Hawkeyes’ player to tally multiple hits, going 2-for-5.

The Rams now lead the PGCBL West Division by 4 1/2 games over Elmira (17-18), which lost to Adirondack, 5-4, on Saturday.

Watertown hosts the Newark Pilots 5 p.m. today at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.
