Helen S. Schreiber


THREE MILE BAY – Helen S. Schreiber, 89, died July 20, at her home in Three Mile Bay under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

She was born April 11, 1924, in Gloversville, NY, the daughter of Ezra and Elsie Morley. Helen was married to Richard Schreiber on Aug 18, 1942. The couple and their two children moved to Three Mile Bay in 1953 where they resided in the same house for the past 60 years. They would have been married 71 years in Aug.

Helen was a member of the ladies auxiliary, Bay View Club and the quilter’s guild. She was a member of the Three Mile Bay United Methodist Church.

Helen’s passions were quilting, baking, gardening and her family. The people who knew Helen appreciated the wonderful and caring person she was. She has touched the hearts of the people who surrounded her.

Helen is survived by her husband Richard; Brother Charles Morley, Johnstown NY; son Richard (Dick), Wake Forest, NC; daughter Karen Tibbits, Farmington NY; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the hospice of Jefferson County or the Three Mile Bay Ambulance Fund.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Jefferson County for all the care and support given to Helen and her family.

Calling hours will be from 2-4, 7-9 Tuesday, July 23 at the Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday July 24, at 11:00 at the United Methodist Church in Three Mile Bay with the Rev. Mark Pierce officiating, reception to follow at the Three Mile Bay fire hall.
