MASSENA - Trinity Catholic School has another $2,430 to add to its fundraising total thanks to a test drive coordinated by Blevins Seaway Motors, Massena.
Blevins Seaway Motors General Manager Frank Lallier and Office Manager Michele Lallier presented Trinity Catholic School Principal Kathleen Behrens with a check this week.
Chrysler brands Drive for the Kids was held in June in conjunction with the eighth Trinity Walk n roll Bike Rally and family picnic.
The concept for the fundraiser was a simple one. Representatives from Blevins Seaway Motors were on hand in the Trinity parking lot with a 2013 model Town and Country mini-van that individuals could test drive on a designated course at the school with no strings attached. Trinity received $10 for every test drive, as well as some additional funding following the test drives.
Ms. Behrens said the test drive fundraiser was a welcome addition to other fundraisers they do at the school. Their largest is a truck raffle thats held in November, with the winner being announced in January.
In the fall we do a cookie dough and pie sale fundraiser, she said.
A spring fundraiser offers a limited number of $100 tickets for an opportunity to win $10,000.
Last year we combined with the St. Marys and St. Josephs parish, expanding the fundraisers reach, Ms. Behrens said.
Anson and Tammy Burke are the schools fundraising chairs, and theyll soon be meeting with Ms. Behrens and others to discuss ways they might be able to revamp the fundraising efforts to further benefit the school, the principal said.
Officials with Blevins Seaway Motors said they were happy to assist Trinity with the fundraiser.

Chrysler supports schools in the communities where the company does business. Since 1993, when they introduced Drive for the Kids, Chrysler dealers have worked with parents and educators in communities across the nation.
