Cape Airs Ogdensburg ticket office was grand-opened Monday, three months after starting up with what officials say has been a successful venture.
Its going very well, said Vice President for Planning Andrew Bonney said at a midday ribbon-cutting and open at the downtown ticket office, 318 Ford St.
Mr. Bonney said Cape Air booked 11,000 passengers to Albany Airport from Ogdensburg International Airport in 2012, up from 3,000 passengers the year before. There has also been a 12-percent increase in advance bookings. He envisions higher numbers with the new ticket office.
We continue to see business grow year in and year out, Mr. Bonney said.
The office opened on May 1 and, according to Mr. Bonney, its location has proven to be a success.
Its all advertising and a downtown presence, he said.
Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority Executive Director Wade A. Davis, who oversees the airport, agreed.
I think that the customer service speaks for itself, he said.
Everywhere along the way, the customer service is second to none, said Mayor William D. Nelson, a frequent Ogdensburg-to-Albany flyer.
The Ogdensburg office has two part-time employees. Its hours of business are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The ticket office occupies 500 square feet of the front section of the buildings first floor. It was formerly occupied by the St. Lawrence Child Care Council, which relocated to 314 Ford St.
Based in Hyannis, Mass., Cape Air provides commuter air service to Ogdensburg and Massena international airports.
Cape Airs Massena ticket office is located at 40 Main St.
