Canton man is missing since DWI charge Sunday

POTSDAM — A 21-year-old Canton man has been missing since Sunday morning, shortly after village police charged him with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right.

Police said they observed Christopher B. Knight failing to keep right while he was traveling down Market Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. His blood alcohol content was listed as 0.13 percent. A BAC level of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law.

He was issued an appearance ticket, returnable Aug. 9 to Village Court.

Both village police and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Tuesday that Mr. Knight has not been seen since Sunday morning. There were no new leads as of Tuesday night.

Potsdam police said he owns a black Ford F-250, with the New York license plate of 82292MA.

Anyone with information is asked to call either village police at 265-2121 or the sheriff’s office at 379-2222.
