NNY Box Lacrosse High School Division games produce upsets


BRASHER FALLS - The teams in the bottom half of the High School Division standings got the upper hand on the teams at the top in Northern New York Box Lacrosse matchups at the Tri-Town Arena on Wednesday.

The first game of the night saw third-place Massena Savings and Loan outlast previously undefeated Ron’s Agridrainage 18-17 while Enbridge-St. Lawrence Gas outscored second-place B&W Quick Stop 13-7 for its first win in six tries this summer.

In the Elementary Division game, Stacey Howlett, DDS, avoided a third straight loss to Dow Electric by scoring a late goal to salvage a 10-10 tie and the Adult Division contest had the Reds turning back the Whites 14-12.

Ogdensburg Pepsi once again sponsored Powerade Player of the Game awards for the Elementary and High School Division matchups.


Massena S&L 18, Ron’s 17: Player of the game Cole Allen led the winning attack with eight goals and three assists as Massena S&L (2-4) built a commanding lead before surrendering the last five goals of the game. Mike Plante tallied three goals and four assists while Isaac Jandreau fashioned a hattrick.

For Ron’s (5-1), Owen Kowalchuk generated three goals and five assists in earning player of the game honors. Drew Rose contributed six goals and two assists while Tyler Kowalchuk broke through for a pair of goals.

Enbridge-SLG 13, B&W Quick Stop 7: Hunter Storrin scored three goals in being named player of the game. Skyler Burns fashioned a goal and five assists and Matt Duchscherer chipped in a pair of goals.

Player of the game Jah Robertson netted three goals for B&W Quick Stop (3-3). Will Arquiett contributed three goals and an assist.

The trio of Cash Feeley (29 saves, 2 assists), Parker Hornung (22 saves) and Joel Hinckley (22 saves) combined to handle crease duties over the course of the two games. Trent Dow played goal in one game and finished with 12 saves and two assists.


Howlett, DDS 10, Dow Electric 10: Gage Charleson scored his second goal of the contest with 15 seconds left in regulation as Howlett, DDS, rallied to produce a second consective draw. Player of the game status went to Zach Chapman, who struck for three goals. Carter Rose (1 assist) and Ashton Adams each connected for solo goals while Logan Auger made four saves working the crease.

Kody Blais netted a solo goal in being named Player of the game for Dow Electric. Damien Rotach broke through for five goals. Jarrett St. Hilaire also scored once while Myles Bordeleau turned aside eight shots.


Reds 14, Whites 12: Brian Newtown fired home a two-point shot with eight seconds left to lift the Reds past the Whites. He finished with two goals and five assists while Troy Basford and Todd Ramsdell each produced hattricks and Andrew Fiske handled nine shots backstopping the win.

Kevin Logan (3 assists) and Ryan Cole (2 assists) notched three goals apiece to anchor the losing attack. Brian Labier finished with 10 saves.

MONDAY GAMES: Elementary Division - Stacey Howlett, DDS, vs. Dow Electric 5:30 p.m.; High School Division - B&W Quick Stop vs. Ron’s 6:30 p.m., Massena S&L vs. Enbridge-SLG 7:30 p.m.; Adult Division 8:30 p.m.
