Police: deputy had to slam on brakes to avoid a man lying in the road

MANNSVILLE — A Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy on his way to a domestic disturbance about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night had to slam on the brakes of his patrol car to avoid a man lying in the middle of the road.

Deputy Timothy Kittelson Jr. was responding to a call at 804 Brown Road and was forced to stop when he saw the man in the road after turning onto Brown Road from County Route 90, according to police documents.

Timothy J. Martin, 36, of 802 Brown Road, was charged with disorderly conduct. The person who called deputies about the dispute did not want to press charges, but wanted Mr. Martin out of the house, deputies said.

Mr. Martin was arraigned in Ellisburg Town Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, on $150 bail.
