Jefferson County received more than 60 applications for the position of airport manager, according to County Administrator Robert F. Hagemann III.
Of those, about a dozen met the minimum qualifications for the job, which include either a bachelors degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience or an associate degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
That field has been narrowed down to seven candidates who will be interviewed by phone or Skype, Mr. Hagemann said.
The strongest two or three candidates will be invited to come to the county to tour the airport facility and sit down for a more in-depth interview.
Mr. Hagemann said that he hopes to have an offer on the table for the countys top choice by the end of August.
