Four Jefferson County Buildings could get ATMs

Cash is king, they say, and getting your hands on some greenbacks in Jefferson County soon may be easier than ever.

Responding to interest from residents, county legislators will consider a resolution to install automated teller machines in four county buildings at Tuesday’s Finance and Rules Committee meeting.

The machines would be put in the lobbies of the Watertown International Airport, the Public Health building, the county building and the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

JR Associates, Ilion, would provide and maintain the machines at a rate of $3 per transaction, of which the county would retain 30 percent.

The push for the installation of ATMs began at the county airport, with arriving travelers repeatedly asking for one, according to County Administrator Robert F. Hagemann III.

If the committee endorses the resolution Tuesday, it will go before the full board at its meeting Aug. 6.
