CANTON A Norfolk man was arrested Sunday following an investigation by the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Office into the theft of copper.
Tyler R. Paige, 24, 114 Fisher Rd. was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor after allegedly stealing 35 pounds of copper from his former employer and landlord.
According to sheriffs deputies, the copper was stored outside 21 Jenner Rd., Lisbon, next to a garage and Mr. Paige allegedly traded the copper in for $74 after having it weighed.
The investigation remains ongoing as there are additional items believed to have been stolen from a location in Norfolk.
While Mr. Paige was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Lisbon Town Court regarding the alleged copper theft, further police investigation discovered that Mr. Paige was suspected of having contact with a woman who has an order of protection against him issued by Norfolk Town Judge George C. Grubee on June 21.
Mr. Paige was additionally charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, for that alleged violation.
The order was issued following an arrest for a domestic incident Mr. Paige was allegedly involved in.
Mr. Paige was arraigned on the criminal contempt charge by Louisville Town Court Judge Michael Lecuyer and was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
