Nig’s Tavern, Buster’s Sports Restuarant advance in Ogdensburg Women’s Softball


The March to the 2013 Ogdensburg Women’s Softball League Playoff Championship was narrowed to four teams on Monday evening. Nig’s Tavern and Buster’s Sports Restaurant filled the Final 4 with victories.

At Madill School, Nig’s Tavern survived The Place 5-3 to advance against Buster’s Sports Restaurant on Wednesday at Madill School. Buster’s Sports Restaurant ended DaVinci’s season with a 22-11 win at Champlain Street Field.

Hosmer’s and Howie’s will play on Wednesday at Champlain Street field for a berth in the finals.

Nig’s 5, The Place 3: Timely hits lifted Nig’s Tavern as Lori LaRue doubled and singled and Sara Meashaw, Heather Amo, and Brittany Kenyon each singled twice. Deb Knapp, Kristi Farrell, Austin Claxton, Liza LaRock, Tabitha Small, Stacie Kinney each singled once in the win.

Nikki Fisher smacked two doubles and Sherry Deloney and Jess McBath each stroked two singles to lead Nig’s Tavern. Jocelyn Fifield, Julie Backus and Dawn Merz each singled while Sharon Reed and Amy Schroh lined doubles.

Buster’s 22, DaVinci’s 11: Nine runs in the fourth and six in the fifth sparked Buster’s comeback from 8-4 deficit.

Ashley Baker launched a homerun and two singles, Barb Miller crushed a homerun, a double and a single and Erika Bedford belted a triple and four singles for Buster’s. Emily Mitchell added four singles while Leann Mullaney, Kareen Bedford, Jessica Meashaw and Kelsea Bedford each lined three singles and Gail Gollinger added two hits.

Lauren Peters smacked a double and four singles for DaVinci’s. Kelly Farrand lined five singles while Mackenzie Ferguson, Stacie Hitsman, Erin MacMartin, and Chelsea Hackett each singled three times. Laura Irvine and Kristine Williams each singled twice.
