NNY Box Lacrosse League produces close games


BRASHER FALLS - The four Northern New York Box Lacrosse League games staged Wednesday night at the Tri-Town Arena were decided by a total of seven goals.

In the High School Division, Ron’s Agridrainage clinched the regular season title with a 14-11 decision over Enbridge-St. Lawrence Gas while B&W Quick Stop outscored Massena Savings and Loan 14-9. The Elementary Division saw Stacey Howlett, DDS, turn back Dow Electric 12-10 while the Whites and Reds battled to a 13-13 draw in the Adult Division contest.

Ogdensburg Pepsi again sponsored Powerade Player of the Game awards for the High School Division and Elementary Division games.


Ron’s 14, Enbridge-SLG 11: Drew Rose generated four goals and three assists as player of the game for Ron’s which improved to 6-1 heading into the final night of the regular season next Monday. Dennis Powell (1 assist and Austin LaPage contributed two goals each toward the winning effort.

Blake Premo scored four goal in being named player of the game for Enbridge-SLG. Hunter Storrin struck for a pair of goals while Logan Sharlow fashioned a goal and assist.

B&W Quick Stop 11, Massena S&L 9: Jacob Sheets produced three goals and an assist as player of the game for B&W Quick Stop. Will Arquiett tallied three goals and two helpers while Lukas Arquiett struck for a pair of goals.

Cole Allen (2 assists) and Jeff Bain delivered three goals each in the losing effort while Brody Simonds logged a goal and two assists. Goaltender Joel Hinckley, who recorded 14 of his 24 saves in the contest, was named player of the game.

Also sharing crease duties over the course of the two High School Division games were Cash Feeley (26 saves, 1 goal, 3 assists), Kody Kocsis (23 saves, 1 goal, 3 assists) and Parker Hornung (21 saves, 1 assist).


Howlett, DDS, 12, Dow Electric 10: Sean Hornung netted a goal to player of the game status in the winning effort. Ashton Adams tallied a pair of goals while Jonah Burnett struck for a singleton and Logan Premo made eight saves backstopping the win.

Remi Charleson had a goal in being named player of the game for Dow Electric. Jayden Ashley scored twice. Jarrett St. Hiliare added a solo goal and Myles Bordeleau worked the crease for nine stops.


Whites 13, Reds 13: Cody Burns netted his third goal of the game with 20 seconds left to pull the Whites even in what turned out to be the first tie of the summer in the Adult Division game. Cliff Barnes also broke through four three goals while Blake Baldwin chipped in two goals and an assist. Andrew Fiske stood tall working the crease 35 saves.

Kevin Logan anchored the Reds offense with five goals. Todd Ramsdell and Bryan Bordeleau contributed three goals apiece while Brian Labier handled 31 shots.

MONDAY’S GAMES: Elementary Division - Stacey Howlett, DDS, vs. Dow Electric 5:30 p.m.; High School Division - Enbridge-SLG vs. B&W Quick Stop 6:30 p.m., Massena S&L vs. Ron’s 7:30 p.m.; Adult Division 8:30 p.m.
