WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University head hockey coach Ryan Soderquist has announced that Madrid-Waddington Central graduate Matt Curley has joined his staff as an assistant coach. Curley comes to Bentley after spending the 2012-13 season as Associate Head Coach of the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League.

“I am excited to add Matt to our coaching staff and look forward to him representing our program and school,” said Soderquist, who is entering his 12th season as the head coach at Bentley. “His past playing and work experience, combined with his work ethic, character, and determination to develop hockey players will make him a great asset to the Bentley hockey program.”

Curley joins Charlie Carkin, entering his 12th season, and Ben Murphy, entering his fifth, as assistants on the Falcons’ coaching staff.

Prior to his stop in Indiana, Curley spent one season each coaching with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program’s U-17 and U-18 squads. He was also a coach for Team USA when they won the gold medal at the 2011 IIHF U-18 World Championships.

Before getting into coaching, Curley played four seasons as a defenseman at Clarkson University, suiting up in 126 career games. He played professionally with the Reading Royals of the ECHL, and in Europe.

The Falcons get their 2013-14 season underway with a series at Nebraska-Omaha beginning Oct. 11.
