The state Department of Environmental Conservation is asking state residents to help observe wild turkeys and ring-necked pheasants as part of a pair of ongoing surveys.
For the turkey survey in August, participants will record the sex and age composition of all flocks of wild turkeys observed during normal travel. People interested in participating can download a Summer Wild Turkey Sighting Survey form from the DEC website at www.dec.ny.gov/animals/48732.html.
For the pheasant survey, farmers in Livingston, Genesee, Wyoming and Monroe counties are asked to observe the bird while conducting their normal business. Interested participants are asked to call 518-402-8886 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Farmer-Pheasant Inventory.
