COLTON - Evelyn Riehl, organist at Zion Episcopal Church in Colton leaves the church organ bench for good after 50 years of service to the church and her community.

As teacher, Girl Scout, author, wife, mother, environmentalist, historian, musician, newspaper woman and much more she leaves behind a rich legacy of community service. Her friends will help her celebrate that rich service at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 11 at 3pm at Zion Episcopal Church on Main Street in Colton.

Her son, Bill Riehl from Aiken, S.C., who summers in Colton, said, “We hope to pack the church as we review her life in the north nountry. Our working title for the event is ‘these are a few of my favorite things’ as suggested by her teaching colleague George Cox of Parishville, where my mother taught for some 20 years. We will celebrate her many activities with many of her friends from over the years. All are welcome,” he said.

For more information, you can contact Bill Riehl (803-336-8802; briehl@mac.com).
