DEFERIET During a brief Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday, members were updated on a number of projects.
Fire Chief Timothy J. Ireys request for use of the village park for a fundraiser for the Fire Department was approved. The firefighters are planning waterball and horseshoe tournaments in conjunction with a pig roast to raise funds for new equipment for the village playground.
Mr. Irey also informed the board that the Fire Department is in the process of changing its banking services. Since the United Neighbors Federal Credit Union closed its branch in the village, it is inconvenient to use that bank, the chief said. The Fire Departments banking now will be through Carthage Federal Savings and Loan.
Donning his trustee hat, Mr. Irey reported to the board on the joint water project the village is embarking on with the village of Herrings.
Due to the projects proximately to the Fort Drum airfield, the Federal Aviation Administration has ruled that lighting is required on the water tank that will be installed.
Trustee William S. Littlefield informed the board that a sale of surplus equipment will be held in September. Showings of the items, which include six iPods, two upholstered rocking chairs, a television, a utility trailer and a non-working zero turn mower, are scheduled for Sept. 9 and 11, with bids due by Sept. 13.
Items will be awarded at the monthly meeting Sept. 16.
