A Round Island woman who rescued a boater in the St. Lawrence River in June will be honored this morning by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Sarah E. Gillette will be given an Award of Commendation from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the Recreational Boating Lifesaving Award from state parks officials in recognition of her rescue of a boater who was ejected from his motorboat into the St. Lawrence River on June 2.

The boater, Terence J. Brennan, of Camillus, had fallen off his 17-foot boat and ended up in the river before Mrs. Gillette jumped into her boat to look for him after hearing yells for help. She found him and then helped him aboard her boat.
