Fifth annual wine, beer and food festival draws record attendance

OGDENSBURG — The fifth annual North Country Wine, Beer and Food Festival last weekend at the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center was a record success, attracting more than the event’s past average attendance.

“We probably had 1,400 people over the two days,” Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandra M. Porter said. The 2012 festival attendance was 1,100 people.

A shuttle bus ferried spectators back and forth from the Bassmaster Elite Series Tournament in nearby Waddington to the Ogdensburg festival.

A total of 47 vendors, including 11 new ones, watched as a record 900 festival-goers filed through the Lockwood’s doors on Saturday, 450 of them between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. alone.

The new vendors included several New York wineries that were pleased with their first stand at the festival. Adirondack Winery, Lake Placid, was one of them.

“The turnout and our sales on Saturday even exceeded our expectations,” winery events manager Stephanie Ottino told Ms. Porter in an email Tuesday.
