CARTHAGE — Joseph S. Howard, 90, left to join his loving wife Dody and his son Joe on Sunday, August 11, 2013. He was born on November 14, 1922 go James and Annie Howard and was the last surviving sibling of four boys and two girls.

Mr. Howard retired from the Army in 1971 as a Master Sergeant after serving our country as a rifleman in World War II, the Korean War, and finally in Vietnam. Among his many awards are the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Perry, Knotts Island, NC; Tina Stevens, San Diego, CA; and his many grandchildren.

He loved his family, fishing, his New York Yankees, and his New York Giants. He was an avid reader and frequently buried himself in Western Novels on his Kindle.
