Massena police charge man with stealing money out of friend’s wallet

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police picked up Brian J. Snyder, 27, of 1962 County Route 53, Brasher, on an arrest warrant charging him with petit larceny Friday afternoon on Bishop Avenue.

Snyder allegedly stole $125 from Danielle Champion on April 3. Ms. Champion told police she was at On a Roll deli when she saw Snyder, a man she said had been an acquaintance for approximately three years. “We talked at On A Roll deli, and he asked me for a ride home,” she said in her statement to police.

Ms. Champion said Snyder rode with her to Stewart’s, where she stopped to get gas. “I grabbed $25 out of my wallet. He stayed in the car. I went in to pay the worker. When I came, out he was gone. My wallet was open inside my purse. I had just been in my purse so I know $125 left in my wallet. All of the $125 was gone,” she said in the statement she signed for police.

Snyder was arraigned Friday afternoon by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released after posting $250 bail.
