DEXTER The General Brown Central School District Board of Education voted 5-0 during its monthly meeting Monday not to fill the board seat left vacant when Cynthia L. Humerickhouse resigned just over a month ago.
The vacant seat now will be up for election at the districts next annual election in May. The successful candidate will serve through the remainder of Mrs. Humerickhouses term, which by then will be one year.
Board member Sandy Y. Klindt made the motion for approval, which was seconded by Brien M. Spooner. Michael E. Kucharski was absent.
Board members agreed both not to pursue a special election, in order to avoid the extra cost, and not to appoint someone to fill the position. In years past when similar situations arose, the board appointed the candidate with the next highest vote count in the most recent election.
