WANAKENA — Forest landowners interested in maintaining or encouraging birds and other wildlife in their woods are invited to a free workshop and walk scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Ranger School.

The session is sponsored by Audubon New York, with support from the Northern Adirondack chapter of the New York Forest Owners Association, the Adirondack chapter of the New York Society of American Foresters and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

Participants will hear about the basics of proper management, working with a forester and tax advantages of conservation easements.

To register by Friday’s deadline, email Graham Cox, glcox@audubon.org, or call 518-729-6869.
