MORRISTOWN — The Black Lake Fish and Game Association and Friends of the National Rifle Association are hosting an Outdoor Heritage Family Rendezvous on Saturday.

The event will feature a wide variety of events and is designed to get young people more involved in outdoor activities.

William H. Warren, treasurer of the Fish and Game Association, said the group used to have an annual field day.

“We’re trying to rejuvenate it,” he said. “We’re trying to get the youth and adults back and interested in it.”

The heritage event will include trap shooting, turkey and chicken shoots, a pig roast, a marshmallow gun safari for kids, a scavenger hunt, fishing lessons and hunting demonstrations.

The Friends of the National Rifle Association will also have raffles throughout the day, including for a Henry Big Bore chambered in .44 caliber. A New York State Lifetime Sportsman License will also be raffled off.

Mr. Warren said the day will promote hunting and other outdoor sports.

Further information about the event can be found on the Fish and Game Association’s website, www.BLFGA.org.

Mr. Warren said the association will need volunteers to help pull off the day.

Anyone interested in helping out should contact Mr. Warren at 375-6724.

Volunteers would be responsible for helping manage events and ensuring the day is a success, Mr. Warren said.
