POTSDAM - The Clarkson University mens and womens hockey programs have added to their lists of professional and potential international team members.
HIMELSON SIGNS WITH TULSA
Recently graduated defenseman Andrew Himelson will begin his professional playing career in the Central Hockey League with the Tulsa Oilers, who announced his signing on Monday.
Himelson is set to begin his pro career after playing in 112 career games for the Golden Knights from 2009-13. The Monroe, NY native served as an assistant captain in his senior campaign and recorded a career-high 11 points in 33 games.
WOMENS HCOKEY TRIO PICKED
Hockey Canada announced Sunday that three members of the Clarkson womens team are among the 13 players selected to join the 27 centralized with Canadas National Womens Team for Canadas National Womens Program Red-White Series.
Senior forwards Carly Mercer (Exeter, ONT) and Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, ONT), and sophomore defenseman Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) were recognized for their strong play at Canadas National Womens Development Team selection camp, held on August 9-17.
The Red-White Series will take place on August 21-24 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
MENS TEAM ADDS NETMINDER
The mens hockey team has added Ville Runola to the 2013-14 recruiting class, head coach Casey Jones announced. Runola, a native of Raisio, Finland was the starting goaltender for TPS U20 team last season in the Jr. A SM-liiga. Through 29 regular-season games, the 6-0, 180-pound netminder recorded a .905 save percentage and a 2.73 goals against average.
Runola joins an incoming class that includes goaltender Steven Perry, defensemen James de Hass and Bryan Sinz and forwards Jordan Boucher, Perry DArrisso, A.J. Fossen and Troy Josephs.
The Golden Knights open the 2013-14 campaign on October 5-6 at Niagara University.
