A Watertown man on Sunday morning was accused of possessing heroin.
City police charged Robert L. Rainey III, 32, of 217 S. Pleasant St., with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 400 block of Clay Street, answerable in City Court.
Police said they found a large bag containing 7.4 grams of the drug and 12 wax envelopes with heroin in them in his possession.
Mr. Rainey was sentenced to 7½ years in federal prison for conspiring with another man to sell crack cocaine in 2005. Prior to that, he served four years in state prison on a charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance prior to his release in March 2005.
