Mannsville — James T. Babel “Jimmer”, 53, of US RT 11, Mannsville died suddenly Sunday afternoon at his home.

Jim was born January 30, 1960 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, NY to Earl Gene and Gloria Jean (Draper) Babel. He attended Watertown High School graduating in 1978. Jim was an auto body specialist. He started his career at Dobbins Auto Parts in Adams, Don’s Auto Parts, Lubbock TX, Bob Kurtz Chevrolet, Watertown and from 1984-present.Gibbs & Edwards in Adams that later became Fuccillo Auto Mall.

Jim married Karen E. August 1, 1981 and was father to their three children Jason, Andrew and Brian.

Jim loved to cook and entertain guests. He often had an open house to feed any friends or family that may stop by. He loved boating, fishing, skiing, duck hunting, snowmobiling and golf. He also had a strong love of music. Jim was willing to help anyone with anything no matter who it was.

Jim is survived by his mother Gloria his three sons Jason and his fiancÚ Jessica Ramsdell, Lacona, Andrew J. , Watertown, and Brian E. ,Adams Center, two brother Louis “Ollie” Babel and his wife Cynthia, Dexter, William A. Babel and his companion Linda Orvis, Clayton and his ex wife Karen Axenfeild.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday August 22, 2013 6:00pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Rev. Patrick A. Ratigan officiating. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at the funeral home.

Donation may be made in his honor to South Jefferson Rescue, 38 Main St Adams, NY 13605.
