DEC to promote new wildlife guide at state fair

The state Department of Environmental Conservation will showcase a new 248-page New York Wildlife Viewing Guide and host an exhibit on the progress to restore Onondaga Lake during the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, which runs from today to Sept. 2.

The new Wildlife Viewing Guide features maps and information on more than 110 New York sites across the state that offer bird watching, nature walks, viewing of unique and rare species, and the spectacular landscapes where they live.

Also new at the fair this year will be a major exhibit on the progress to restore and revitalize Onondaga Lake, which will be presented in the Center of Progress Building.

DEC will also operate its Aquarium Building and the Log Cabin Building exhibits, which will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
