13 candidates file independent nominating petitions with Jefferson County Board of Elections


Thirteen candidates have filed independent nominating petitions with the Jefferson County Board of Elections for local races this fall.

Donna J. Bohn filed a petition to be included on the ballot as an independent for the District 10 seat on the Jefferson County Board of Legislators. Mrs. Bohn also filed a petition as a Democrat.

Three candidates, two Republicans and one Democrat, have emerged for the District 10 seat after longtime legislator Michael W. Behling, R-Adams, announced that he would be stepping down at the end of his term.

There will be a primary between Republicans Jeremiah J. Maxon and Jayson J. Jones for their party’s nomination for the District 10 seat.

Stacey Berry filed an independent nominating petition for town of Rodman supervisor.

Mr. Berry’s Democratic petition was invalidated by the Board of Elections after Walter M. Gallo objected to Mr. Berry’s petition on the grounds that the incorrect date was listed on the preamble of the form.

Other petitions filed include:

n Jeremy C. Durand for town of Alexandria Highway superintendent. Mr. Durand also filed a petition as a Republican.

n Dennis W. Pearson for town of Cape Vincent council.

n Joshua L. Crump for town of Champion council.

n Stephen J. Pierson for town of Lorraine council.

n Jennifer M. Sosa for town of Lyme assessor.

n Timothy S. Busler for town of Theresa council. Mr. Busler also filed a petition as a Republican.

n Patrick J. Omeara for town of Wilna Highway superintendent.

n Michel Camidge for town of Wilna Town Clerk-Collector.

n Danielle L. Jury for village of Alexandria Bay mayor. Ms. Jury also filed a petition as a Republican.

n Timothy W. Dupee for village of Brownville trustee.

n Joe E. Cook for village of Deferiet trustee.
