A Fort Drum man faces burglary and sex charges after he allegedly broke into an East Hills Apartment and forced a 25-year-old female to have sex with him.

Arrested on Wednesday was David A. Brooks, 31, Fort Drum, on charges of second-degree burglary, first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

City police said he broke into the apartment Aug. 6 and forced the woman to have sex. The victim and Brooks had a mutual female friend, police said.

They had met only once, police said.

She was home alone when Mr. Brooks got into the building by getting through a “door lock,” police said.

The woman reported the alleged attack on the day it happened.

He was arraigned in Watertown City Court on Wednesday morning and remanded to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $2,500 bail.
