HEUVELTON - A revamped village website is online and in the process of being loaded with local information.
The purpose was updating the website to make it not only more user friendly but to have more information [village residents] can access, Mayor Barbara A. Lashua said.
Village Clerk Anna M. Hurst said she hopes to have links to the villages newsletter on the website, as well as information about community events, job openings, FOIL requests, maps and information about sewer and water rates. The website should serve as a community bulletin board, Mrs. Hurst said.
Mrs. Lashua said the website will also likely serve as a place for residents to view local laws and information about trash and brush cleanup.
The site could also become a place for residents to keep track of what the village board does, Mrs. Lashua said, as they post minutes online.
It seems to make sense, Mrs. Lashua said of the upgrade.
Citing the prevalance of computer access, Mrs. Lashua said Heuveltons adoption of a more user-friendly website is an important part of keeping residents in the loop.
We have several people that leave the village for the winter and now they can keep track of whats going on in the village as well, she said.
Mrs. Hurst said the website is hosted through North Shore Solutions, Potsdam.
Theyre available at any time for me to give them a call, she said.
North Shore Solutions charges $455 a year to host the website and trained Mrs. Hurst so she can continue adding to the site, Mrs. Hurst said.
The village website is at www.heuveltonny.com.
