GOUVERNEUR – Geraldine Mae Gerry Trickey, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, August 26th at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, Gouverneur with Fr. Stephen Rocker officiating. Calling hours are Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Geraldine was born in Buffalo on April 25, 1933, the daughter of Howard L. and Ethel H. Kimmick Johnson.
She graduated from Alexandria Bay High School in 1951 and throughout her life, she furthered her knowledge by taking courses covering: accounting, computers, and seminary studies.
Gerry was employed at Westinghouse Electric Co. in Buffalo and Stebbins Engineering and Manufacturing Co. in Watertown.
She was previously married to Ronald E. Trickey.
Gerry and her family lived in many locations around the world and across the country, as her husband served in the military, and she more recently resided in Theresa and lived in Gouverneur since 2005.
Gerry enjoyed reading, gardening, music, and the outdoors. She was an associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and was a communicant of St. James Church, serving her faith in many ways, such as the Outreach program, food pantry, and acting as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Gerry also was active in numerous political events in the past, volunteered for the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and various youth programs.
She once stated, My life centers on my family, the Catholic Church, and the Sisters of St. Joseph, and I am happy there.
Gerry is survived by her son Michael and Cheryl Trickey of Theresa, 3 daughters Dianne and William Rokenbrod of Hornell, Belinda Trickey of Hammondsport, Jennifer and Timothy Leggett of Clinton Corners, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Delores Bain of Alexandria Bay, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and a sister Shirley Bain.
