LOWVILLE – Neva B. Jones, 93, formerly of Brookside Circle, died Friday morning, August 23, 2013, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Lowville Baptist Church, with Rev. Anthony Bradseth, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, August 26, 2013 from 3 – 7 p.m. at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville. Contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Surviving are two daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Wilber of Oneida, NY; Deborah and Stephen Burrows of Rochester, NY; Richard Mills and his wife Jackie of Groveland, NY; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Arthur of Glens Falls, NY, five grandsons, Bradley Wilber; Matthew and Heather Wilber; Jason and Ida Mills; Scott Mills; and Timothy Burrows; four great-grandsons, Lucas, Connor, Aidan and Declan Wilber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard; by a daughter, Marjorie Mills who died on December 31, 2005; a son-in-law, Duwayne Wilber; a brother, Gordon Boutwell; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Harold Jones; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hoch.

Neva was born on July 25, 1920 in the Town of Montague, NY, a daughter of the late Harry and Ethel Dening Boutwell. She graduated from Lowville Academy in 1936. Neva worked for Judge Carter’s law office from 1936 until 1942. During World War II, she worked for the U.S. Office of Price Administration in Syracuse until July of 1943. On May 27, 1943, she married Richard E. Jones at the bride’s home in Turin, with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Neva worked for the U.S. Government in the office at Hendrick’s Field in Sebring, Florida from 1943 until 1944. The couple returned to Lewis County, where Neva raised their family. In 1957, she went to work for the Lewis County Highway Department, where she worked until 1967, when she began work in the Lewis County Treasurer’s Office, where she retired as Senior Account Clerk in 1984. Mr. Jones died on December 30, 2009.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the Lowville Baptist Church. Neva was a longtime member of Lowville Grange, a member of Zenith-Copenhagen Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Northern Swingers square dance club.

Neva enjoyed reading, traveling, round and square dancing. She enjoyed snowmobiling in her younger years.
