MASSENA - Christine Jenkins has retired as tax collector in the town of Massena after a 20-year career in municipal government.

The board unanimously to accept her retirement, which comes with a payment of $2,267.53 for unused vacation time and a bonus of $750 for longevity pay.

To fill the vacancy, the board appointed Taya Pryce, who has been working as a part-time tax collector. The part-time position was abolished.

“We believe the work in that office can be done by two employees,” Town Supervisor Joseph D. Gray said.
