Donald L. DeLorme, Sr., 83, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 in the comforts of his home with his loving wife and the support of Hospice of the North Country at his side. Funeral Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home in Moira.

Donald was born March 27, 1930 in Canton, the son of Edward and Eva (Ferguson) DeLorme, and attended School in Pyrites. On November 26, 1960, he united into marriage with Joan H. Stafford of Hermon. For many years, Donald was employed by E. F. Perretta & Co. Slaughter House in Malone, until the company closed in 1976. He then went to work for Tri-Town Packing in Winthrop, retiring in 1995, and for a period of time after retirement, he pumped gas at White’s Garage in Moira.

Memories will forever be in the hearts of his wife of 52 years, Joan; his son, Colorado State Trooper Donald L. DeLorme, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Colorado; and his daughter, Maryanne E. Daily of Tupper Lake. Also surviving Donald are four grandsons, Joseph (Brianna) DeLorme of Colorado, Adam (Jane) DeLorme of Texas, Caleb Daily of Tupper Lake, and Zachary Daily of Webster; two great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Dawson DeLorme of Colorado Springs; two step grandchildren, Courtney Hoffman of Montana and Brittany Kilcullen of Colorado; a brother, Kenneth (Joyce) DeLorme of Dekalb Jct; brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, Norman Stafford, John (Geraldine) Stafford, June Stafford, Patricia (Charles) Palmer and Gordon Mandigo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Donald is predeceased by a daughter Mary Grace, who passed away during her infancy; two brothers, Robert (Helen) DeLorme, and Edward (Audrey) DeLorme; five sisters, Shirley (Clarence) Paro, Viola (Harold) Kirkpatrick, Patricia Mandigo, Marlene (Frank) LaFountai; a sister-in-law Fran Stafford; and a former daughter-in-law, Victoria (Bassett) DeLorme.

Donald enjoyed a good cigar, yard work and visiting with family and friends. You could find him watching wrestling on TV with his cat Buddy. However, he loved spending time outdoors in the woods hunting when time prevailed.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Hermonn Cemetery, Hermon, N.Y., with Rev. Bentley McQuinn presiding.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Alice Ballard Hospice Fund, 104 Park St. Malone, NY 12953.

Memories or words of comfort may be shared with Donald’s family at www.flintfuneralhomeny.com.
