More than $9 million in federal funding is being awarded to north country airports, U.S. senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten E. Gillibrand announced.
Massena International-Richards Field Airport will receive $4,143,110 to acquire safety equipment for runway upgrades. Massena will also use the money for fencing, to rehabilitate two runways and for repaving and to put in shoulders.
The Malone-Dufort Airport will receive $508,520 for a runway upgrade.
Ogdensburg International Airport is in line for $3,103,654 and Watertown International Airport $1,956,862 for runway improvements.
The funding is through the U.S. Department of Transportations Federal Aviation Administrations Airport Improvement Program.
