Marsha H. Maurer


Watertown- The funeral for Marsha H. Maurer will be 2 pm Thursday, August 29th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Eastham, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be for the convenience of the family in the Bixby Cemetery, Norfolk, NY. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral, starting at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, 831 Washington St., or to Hospice of Jefferson Co., 1398 Gotham St., both in Watertown, NY 13601.

Miss Maurer, 69, Watertown, passed away Monday morning, August 26th, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

She was born in Potsdam a daughter to Ralph and Doris Bixby Maurer. Marsha graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1961 and Cazenovia College in 1963 with a medical secretary degree. Marsha was the bookkeeper for many years for Dr. R.J. Marilley until her retirement.

Marsha enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, watching the NY Yankees and Syracuse University basketball. She loved spending time at the cottage. Her true love was watching and being part of Cathy and Butch’s children and grandchildren growing up.

She is survived by a sister Marilyn M. Pike, Clay, NY. For 34 years, Marsha lived with Cathy and Butch Maitland in Watertown. She was a sister to Cathy and helped to raise their 10 children, Justin (Jayme), Ed (Jenn), Terry, Michelle and Louisa Rivers; Gillian, Katie, Karie, Calen (Rod) and Minnie Maitland.
