CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - NORTH LAWRENCE - Massena-based state police charged Howard E. Deshane., 44, of 2507 County Route 55, Brasher, with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt stemming from a complaint filed with troopers at 8:16 p.m. Wednesday from the town of Lawrence. Troopers said the arrest was made at 9:20 p.m. Thursday at 9 Desmond Road in the town of Lawrence. He reportedly violated a stay away order of protection that had been issued by St. Lawrence County Court Judge Jerome J. Richards. He was arraigned by Lawrence Town Justice James McCuin and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.



DWI - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Misty C. Swamp, 35, of 45 Sweet Grass Lane, Hogansburg, with driving while intoxicated - refusal to take a breath test and ticketed her for an equipment violation for having inadequate safety glass at 12:31 a.m. Friday. State police said Swamp was turned over to troopers by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers after an inspection at the U.S. port of entry in Massena.



UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Moses P. Middlemiss, 28, of Hogansburg with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at 11:11 p.m. Thursday on Route 37 in the town of Massena.



UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Ogdensburg-based state police charged Jake F. Dumas, 23, of Massena with unlawful possession of marijuana at 1:15 p.m. Thursday following a traffic stop on Route 37 in the town of Lisbon.



PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Benjamin C. Cox, 19, of Monroe with petit larceny Thursday afternoon following an investigation into a shoplifting incident reported Aug. 25 from the town of Potsdam.



PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged April M. Smith, 34, of Morristown and Kaitlyn A. Tiernan, 21, of Ogdensburg with petit larceny affter responding to a shoplifting complaint at 5:56 p.m. Thursday at the Potsdam Walmart.
