Honest John tourney couldn’t have been better

CANTON - “It couldn’t have been a better day” summarized the Honest John Durr Fall 2-man Classic Tournament Director Scott Lalone. “The weather was great, the course was in excellent condition and we had a great group of guys who had a lot of fun while raising $1,500 more towards the John Durr Memorial Scholarship Fund.”

A field of 41 (2-man) teams took to the course which saw the team of Chuck Ladouceur-Kenny Johnson fashion a six under 66 to hold off a pair of entries in Conor Hannan-Bill Hannan and Terry Axtell-Jon Shaver who both came in at five under 67. Rounding out the top five were two teams who carded 68’s in Jordan Backus-John McBath and Brandon Kelley-Duke Brown.

“Our summer tournament raised $1,250 and the fall tournament another $1,500 so the scholarship committee will have $2,750 to work with for the Class of 2014,” added Lalone. “I just want to thank all those who helped with the tournament, donated prizes and made contributions to the scholarship fund. We always try to keep it a fun tournament as John would have liked while raising a little bit in his memory to help some gradating seniors begin their collegiate careers.”
