A resident of the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center will undergo an evaluation to determine whether he understands a charge of second-degree assault against him.
Dean L. White, 55, was arrested Aug. 29 on a city court arrest warrant for second-degree assault which allegedly occurred at the psychiatric centers Trinity Building on Aug. 9.
On that date, according to court records, he attempted to tackle registered nurse Douglas T. McCarney, 29. He also allegedly hit him.
The case was adjourned until Nov. 5. Before then, Mr. White will undergo a court-ordered state law 730 hearing to determine whether he is an incapacitated person who lacks an understanding of the charge against him. Mr. White has since been released to the custody of the psychiatric center.
