Heuvelton, Hammond roll in NAC West Girls Soccer; Lisbon tops Hermon-DeKalb


Lisbon trimmed Hermon-DeKalb 1-0 and Hammond and Heuvelton rolled on Friday in Northern Athletic Conference West Divison Girls Soccer play.

Hammond knocked off Edwards-Knox 5-2 while Heuvelton rolled past Clifton-Fine 8-1. Harrisville and Morristown played to a 1-1 tie.

In other girls action, Tupper Lake edged St. Regis Falls 1-0 and Brushton-Moira tripped up Parishville-Hopkinton 2-1 in the Community Bank NA Tournament.

Chateaugay also won a 5-1 decision over Salmon River.


Lisbon 1, Hermon-DeKalb 0: The Knights improved to 1-0-1 in NAC West Division play and 2-0-1 overall as Maddie Vine connected for her fourth goal of the season from Beth Crowley in the 20th minute against the host Demons.

Jackie Sovie stopped four shots for the Knights. Chelsea MacKay had 11 saves for Hermon-DeKalb (0-1).

Morristown 1, Harrisville 1: Samantha Rounds connected from Mallory Baker in the 29th minute for Harrisville answering Morristown’s unassisted goal from Victoria Mitchell in the 24th in an NAC West Division tie.

Sam Green made eight saves for Morristown and Abby LaFaver posted nine stops for Harrisville in goal.

Hammond 5. Edwards-Knox 2: Courtney Bova exploded for three goals and Mikayla Horton generated two goals and two assists leading the Red Devils past the host Cougars in NAC West Division play.

Horton scored quickly just 1:03 into the game for Hammond. Bova finished off a Horton pass 14 minutes later for a 2-0 lead.

Cambree White scored from Dakotah Bacon in the 21st minute for E-K but Bova connected from Horton in the 28th and Horton converted from Paige Frisina in the 29th minute for a 4-1 halftime lead.

Darien Fenton made it 4-2 for the Cougars in the 65th but Hammond’s Bova sealed the win unassisted two minutes later.

Cassie Whalen made seven saves for the Devils in net. Chelsea White stopped 10 shots for Edwards-Knox.

Heuvelton 8, Clifton-Fine 1: The Bulldogs scored the first eight goals of the game paced by senior striker Alexis Weidner who scored three goals including markers in the 19th and 28th minute from Logan Tallman and Eliza Jane Hamilton.

Tallman finished with one goal and three assists in the win.

Kylie Piercey and Alex Steele scored a minute apart in the second half from Logan Tallman in the 42nd and 43rd before Hannah Thornhill converted unassisted in the 46th.

Weidner (unassisted), Ashlyn Foster (Erin Kennedy assist), and Tallman (Taylor Dawley assist) closed out the scoring in the 48th, 54th and 65th minute of play for the Bulldogs who received no saves from Shelby Williams and Paige McCormick in goal.

Erica Daniels scored from Delaney Kerr in 68th for Clifton-Fine. Savannah Crane made 12 saves for the Eagles.

Chateaugay 4, Salmon River 1: In a match-up between two former NAC East rivals, the Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the game against Salmon River led by two goals from Danielle Charland.

Charland scored in the 13th and 22nd minute from Hannah Cooke and Katie Beach. Brianna Cook scored in the 18th unassisted.

Salmon River’s Tsiotenhariio Herne connected on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute before halftime but Rachel Young converted from Beach in the 75th to close out the scoring for Chateaugay. Kennedy Boyea (one save) and Abby Cowan (one save) combined on the win in goal. Wraven Sunday stopped 12 shots for Salmon River.



Brushton-Moria 2, Parishville-Hopkinton 1: In the first round of the Community Bank, NA Tournament at Parishville-Hopkinton, Kenzi Traynor scored in the 2nd and 7th minute of the game for Brushton-Moira who received 19 saves from Ashley Debeer in the victory over P-H.

Traynor scored from Kendra Mills and Jenna Dufranse.

Kodi Perkins scored from Nicole Whyte in the 45th for P-H. Kelsey Putnam had seven saves for P-H.

Brushton-Moira plays Tupper Lake at 9:30 a.m. today in the finals.

Parishville-Hopkinton meets St. Regis Falls in the 9:15 a.m. consolation game.

Tupper Lake 1, St. Regis Falls 0: No details are available.
